Eight countries, one shared learning experience: KAPOK systematizes the Conserva Aves Partners Meeting

REGIONAL CONSERVATION

July 2026

Between May and July, KAPOK designed, facilitated, and systematized Conserva Aves' regional learning process for BirdLife International and its consortium: interviews and focus groups in eight countries, a two-day in-person meeting in Quito, and a final report with recommendations for the 2027–2031 phase.

The process confirmed a central message: Conserva Aves has demonstrated its ability to create protected areas; the next phase must demonstrate its ability to sustain them. Partners from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Peru prioritized financial sustainability as the number one challenge, followed by shared monitoring tools and communication with their own budget.
